Ordinary People (Letra)

Curso de Violão - Fórmula Violão

[Chorus:]
I’m just ordinary people
Who found extraordinary love
Sometimes it’s hard to believe
That God keeps loving me so much

There are so many people I look up to
Used to tell them I wanna be just
Like you
Then God took ordinary me
And gave me a chance
And everyday I gotta thank him for
Where I am

[Chorus]

I looked in the mirror, I saw average
You looked down from heaven, you saw
A gift
Still can’t figure out why you
Loved me so but that’s what makes
You God
I’ll never know `cause

[Chorus]

Listen to me, I can tell you how it goes
God can take a nobody
Who no one knows
Make `em more than you ever could be
Ask me how I know, he did it for me

[Chorus]

Ordinary people

[ verse 1 ]
Oops, i guess i should stop singin and start bringin the funk
The niggeroe sings a rap and have you clappin
I gets busy, cause i never fall, i excel
Never takin no shorts, so here’s my tall tale
Once upon the clock
It was hard growing up with no pops
But moms did the supernatural, very
Extra-ordinary
Person that she is
She finished college, three kids at home cryin
But never got fed up, and kept her head up
‘i shoot for the sky’ is what she said, it
Got embedded
In my skull
That’s how i got soul
To reach ya through your speaker
My mother alone helped me to be me
So that’s my role model, not an idiot on tv
Used to do it like this
And like that, and like this
But since she never let me join a gang
I couldn’t g thang
So for all her prayers at night under the church steeple
I give thanks to my mother, one of those very extra-ordinary people

[ verse 2 ]
Now dig it, 2-(4)-6-8
I guess that i appreciate
And consider that niggas who work hard is the superstars
(ordinary) people with families, that have kids
Should be put on a pedestal, not average
Treatment for our mother and fathers, and if you ask me
I’ll say: you put your family first, before an athlete
But everybody wanna be somebody special, who
Can grab a microphone, or put a ball through a hoop
And it’s okay to like mike
Even i would, if i drank gatorade
But i’m too busy funkin your trunk with all this 808
To worry about that, i’m worried bout this
If you agree, then pump your fist
If you’re proud (say it loud!)
To show you’re pissed
Off at the news and media, because they swear
That all black people are menaces and holler and cheer
But since there’s so many others that want justice, i know we will
Start respectin others as brothers and come together, all of the…
Ordinary people

[ verse 3 ]
Ordinary people make the world turn
I learned that if you work hard in life
Then it counts the way the balls bounce
I wrote this to give a message, i’ll be glad if it
Switches your goal from bein a gangsta to a graduate
And if you listened close to what i said, you learned a lesson, and
Heard that all the average jones’ are no greater, or no lesser than
Stars, cause all we all are is equal
So shut off your tv set, and show respect to some of the…

(craig wiseman/ed hill)

I was standing at the checkout by a rack of magazines
Cover story told about another heartbroke beauty queen
How she was gettin’ over just one more sad affair
And as i waited for my change, you know it hit me then and there

That ordinary people have extraordinary love
A million little miracles far beneath the stars above
The greatest gift that i could ever wish for you and me
Is a life as ordinary as can be.

Then i heard some famous people had an anniversary
Five long years together, it was hollywood history
Now my grandma and grandpa never made no printed page
But they took the love of fifty-seven years right to the grave

‘cause ordinary people have extraordinary love
A million little miracles far beneath the stars above
The greatest gift that i could ever wish for you and me
Is a life as ordinary as can be.

Now we all like to watch and by the time the movie ends
Who of us hasn’t wished to be a little more like them
But i bet every time two stars are beraking up
That they wish somehow, someway they were a little more like us

‘cause ordinary people have extraordinary love
A million little miracles far beneath the stars above
The greatest gift that i could ever wish for you and me
Is a life as ordinary as can be.

Oh, the greatest gift that i could ever wish for you and me
Is a life as ordinary as can be.

Ordinary People (Letra)

Curso de Violão - Fórmula Violão

In a dusty town a clock struck high noon, two men stood face to face.
One wore black and one wore white, but of fear there wasn’t a trace.
Two hundred years later two hot rods drag through the very same place,
And a half a million people
Moved in to pick up the pace, a factory full of people.
Makin’ parts to go to outer space, a train load of people.
They were aimin’ for another place, out of town people.

There’s a man in the window with a big cigar, says everything’s for sale.
The house and the boat and the railroad car, the owner’s gotta go to jail.
He acquired these things from a life of crime, now he’s selling them to raise his bail.
He was rippin’ off the people.
Sellin’ guns to the underground, tryin’ to help the people.
Lose their ass for a piece of ground, rippin’ off the people.
Skimmin’ the top when there was no one around, tryin’ to help the people.

He was dealing antiques in a hardware store but he sure had a lot to hide.
He had a backroom full of the guns of war and a ton of ammunition besides.
Well, he walked with a cane, kept a bolt on the door with five pit bulls inside,
Just a warning to the people
Who might try to break in at night, protection from the people.
Selling safety in the darkest night, tryin’ to help the people.
Get the drugs to the street all right, ordinary people.

Well, it’s hard to say where a man goes wrong, might be here and it might be there.
What starts out weak might get too strong, if you can’t tell foul from fair.
But it’s hard to judge from an angry throng of hands stretched into the air,
The vigilante people.
Takin’ law into their own hands, conscientious people.
Crackin’ down on the druglord’s land, government people.
Confiscatin’ all the dealer’s land, patch-of-ground people.

Down at the factory, they’re puttin’ new windows in.
The vandals made a mess of things, and the homeless just walked right in.
Well, they worked here once, and they live here now, but they might work here again,
They’re ordinary people.
And they’re livin’ in a nightmare, hard workin’ people.
And they don’t know how they go there, ordinary people.
And they think that you don’t care, hard workin’ people.

Down on the assembly line, they keep puttin’ the same thing out.
But the people today, they just ain’t buyin’, nobody can figure it out.
Well, they try like hell to build a quality end, they’re workin’ hard without a doubt,
They’re ordinary people.
And the dollar’s what it’s all about, hard workin’ people.
But the customers are walkin’ out, lee iacocca people.
Yeah, they look but they just don’t buy, hard workin’ people.

Two out of work models and a fashion slave try to dance away the michelob night.
The bartender poured himself another drink, while two drunks sat watchin’ the fight.
The champ went down, then he got up again, and then he went out like a light,
He was fightin’ for the people.
But his timing wasn’t right, for las vegas people
Who came to see a las vegas fight, high rollin’ people.
Takin’ limos though the neon night, fightin’ for the people.

And then a new rolls royce and a company car they went flyin’ down the street.
Each one tryin’ to make it to the gate before employees manned the fleet.
The trucks full of products for the modern home, set to roll out into the street
Of downtown people.
Tryin’ to make their way to work, nose-to-the-stone people.
Some are saints, and some are jerks, hard workin’ people.
Stoppin’ for a drink on the way to work, alcoholic people.
Yeah yeah, they’re takin’ it one day, one day at a time.

Out on the railroad track, they’re cleanin’ up number nine.
They’re scrubbin’ the boiler down, well, she really is lookin’ fine.
Awe, she’s lookin’ so good, they’re gonna bring her back on line,
Ordinary people.
They’re gonna bring the good things back, nose-to-the stone people.
Put the business back on track, ordinary people.
I got faith in the regular kind, hard workin’ people,
Patch-of-ground people.

Ordinary People (Letra)

Curso de Violão - Fórmula Violão

Ordinary people just don’t comprehend
Ordinary people just don’t seem to comprehend
The thing you feel they don’t even know about

Cut yourself, that never did you no good
You cut yourself, that never did you no good
Nobody watching you, you gotta take care of yourself
Real thing….

When i came down your avenue
Blew you every
Blew you every which way
When i came down your avenue
Bloo hoo hoo you ever which way
Nobody watching you, you gotta take care of yourself

Ordinary people they just don’t seem to comprehend
No they don’t
Ordinary, everyday people just don’t, just don’t seem to comprehend
No they don’t
Then you feel they don’t, they don’t, they don’t even
Even, even know, even know about..

Ordinary People (Letra)

Curso de Violão - Fórmula Violão

Girl, I’m in love with you
This ain’t the honeymoon,
past the infatuation phase
Right in the thick of love
At times we get sick of love
It seems like we argue everyday

I know I misbehaved
And you made your mistake
And we both still got room left to grow
And though love sometimes hurts
I still put you first
And we’ll make this thing work
But I think we should take it slow

We’re just ordinary people
We don’t know which way to go
‘Cos we’re just ordinary people
Maybe we should take it slow
Take it slow
This time we’ll take it slow
Take it slow
This time we’ll take it slow

This ain’t a movie, no
No fairytale conclusions, y’all
It gets more confusing everyday
Sometimes it’s heaven sent
Then we head back to hell again
We kiss then we make up on the way

I hang up, you call
We rise and we fall
And we feel like just walking away
As our love advances,
we take second chances
Though it’s not a fantasy
I still want you to stay

We’re just ordinary people
We don’t know which way to go
‘Cause we’re just ordinary people
Maybe we should take it slow
Take it slow
This time we’ll take it slow
Take it slow
This time we’ll take it slow

Maybe we’ll live and learn
Maybe we’ll crash and burn
Maybe you’ll stay, maybe you’ll leave,
maybe you’ll return
Maybe another fight,
maybe we won’t survive
Maybe we’ll grow we never know
Baby, you and I

We’re just ordinary people
We don’t know which way to go, yeah
‘Cause we’re just ordinary people
Maybe we should take it slow
We’re just ordinary people
We don’t know which way to go

‘Cause we’re just ordinary people
Maybe we should take it slow
Take it slow
This time we’ll take it slow
Take it slow
This time we’ll take it slow
Take it slow, slow
This time we’ll take it slow
Take it slow
This time we’ll take it slow

Star:
I am the image maker. i am the magic
Maker. i can turn the most ordinary
Man in the world into a star. to prove
My point i am going to find the most
Mundane little man and turn him into
Celebrity. hmm! this looks like a
Suitably uninteresting house. i wonder
If there’s anybody here with enough
Star quality?

He presses the doorbell.

Star:
Hello. what’s your name?

Wife:
Andrea.

Star:
Oh, that’s a nice name. what’s your
Husband’s name?

Wife:
Norman.

Star:
His name’s norman. that sounds
Ordinary enough. i would like you to
Join in a unique experiment with me.
I am going to take norman’s place for
A few days. i ‘m going to research his
Ordinary dull little existence.

Wife:
Oh you can’t come in now! the place
Is in a terrible mess!

Star:
That doesn’t matter. i want you to act
Normally. i want you to treat me as if i
Were norman. i am going to sacrifice
My normal flamboyant life style and
Become ordinary, boring little norman
For a few days.

Ordinary people

It’s like another world, being here with you,
It’s quite a trip for me, so this is reality.
I’m studying every movement, i’m trying to learn the part,
Now i want you to be natural, just relax and be as you are,
‘cos it’s all for art, i want to observe the ordinary people

Tomorrow i shall become norman,
I shall go to his office,
Mix with his workmates.
And if they ask any questions
I shall say i’m doing research for one of my songs.
Nomand and i are changing places
And i’m going to make him a star,
So i’m throwing away my stage suit and i’m packing away my guitar,
For the sake of art i’m gonna mix with the ordinary people.

Star:
God these pyjamas are awful!

Wife:
Awful? well all i can say is my norman wears them every night.

Star:
Alright, no sacrifice is too great for art!

The things i’ve done for music,
The things i’ve done for art.
So i’ll make these sacrifices and i’ll take it like a star
For the sake of art i will mix with the ordinary people.

Star:
You’d better come to bed darling.

Wife:
Coming! you’ll never get up for work in the morning.

I’m making observations, and character simulations.
I’ll mix with his friends and relations,
And he’ll be a part of me.

Chorus
He’s changing places with norman,
To get background for his songs.

I’m immortalising his life
And i’ll even sleep with his wife,
For the sake of art i’ll go to bed like the ordinary people.

Turn out the light.
Turn out the light.

The star exchanges his silver stage
Suit for norman’s pin stripe suit,
Umbrella and briefcase. he forsakes
His customary brandy and cigars and
Settles for a cup of hot chocolate before
Going to bed.
